  • Unsupervised RGB-D Scene Analysis using Joint Clustering and Region Merging | École Centrale de Lyon
    Merging 19 May 2015 14 00 ECL building E6 conference room Unsupervised RGB D Scene Analysis using Joint Clustering and Region Merging Recent advances in imaging sensors such as Microsoft Kinect provide access to the synchronized depth with color image called RGB D image Numerous researches have already shown that the use of depth as an additional feature improves the accuracy of scene segmentation However it remains an important issue what is the best way to fuse color and geometry in an unsupervised manner In this talk we will focus on this issue and present a method for indoor RGB D scene analysis The proposed method is developed based on the assumption of a statistical RGB D image generation model In order to solve the scene labeling problem it combines a clustering method with a region merging method First it identifies the possible image regions using a heterogeneous data clustering method Next it merges regions based on the statistical knowledge extracted from the planar geometry of the scene This method was evaluated on a widely used RGB D image dataset and compared with the state of the art Results show that it is very competitive and it needs less computation time Moreover it opens interesting perspectives to fuse color geometry and additional features in an unsupervised manner The research paper related to this talk is available on the following link http www bmva org bmvc 2014 papers paper045 Overall this talk will highlight one of the speaker s recent research contributions on the following topics RGB D image segmentation and analysis Heterogeneous data analysis Statistical knowledge discovery and integration Print Share on Facebook on Twitter on LinkedIn via e mail Research Research Practical information Show Hide content Getting to Centrale Lyon By car by plane by public transport Campus Map
