    European music with less familiar works of Scandinavian and other origin Through the years Concerto Copenhagen has cooperated with many internationally renowned artists on the Early Music scene Emma Kirkby Andreas Scholl Anne Sofie von Otter Andrew Manze Reinhard Goebel Ronald Brautigam and Andrew Lawrence King who is the orchestra s Principal Guest Conductor Concerto Copenhagen s CD recordings for the German label cpo for Deutsche Grammophon and for BIS have attracted international attention and won several prestigious prizes This in turn has opened the doors to many of Europe s leading concert venues guest appearances at top international festivals and tours in Europe the USA Japan and Australia Foreign critics have placed Concerto Copenhagen in the first rank of international orchestras In Denmark the prime partner is the Royal Theatre where Concerto Copenhagen performs in about one opera a year Recent productions include works by Monteverdi and Mozart as well as Handel s Xerxes Giulio Cesare and Partenope the latter two featuring the counter tenor Andreas Scholl in leading roles Concerto Copenhagen s concerts are recorded and broadcast by Danmarks Radio DR and by the EBU network in most parts of the world Press reviews This must be one of the fastest four hours I have sat through At its heart was Concerto Copenhagen a smaller orchestra than that fielded by the Gabrieli Consort the previous evening for Haydn s The Creation but producing a bigger better integrated sound with the kind of freedom and flexibility you wish other so called period specialists could emulate The reading had presence momentum dramatic flair but it wasn t a performance where one person was seen to be imposing a style It was instead a most wonderful co ordination and harmonising of talents Andrew Clark Financiel Times 20 July 2009 Parthenope Royal

    Mendelssohn s complete cello sonatas with the pianist Ferenc Vizi also for Coviello Classics and elected of CD of the year in 2013 by Radio Romania Muzical and Enescu Bartok for the label Ollecello Classics Two new recordings are to be released in 2015 Bach s cello suites in two different versions one on modern cello the other in Baroque violoncello piccolo again for Coviello Classics and an album of sonatas for cello and piano by Enesco Shostakovich and Prokofiev with the pianist Alexandra Silocea for Avie Records http www lauraburuiana com Ferenc Vizi photo Arthur Forjonel Born in Transylvania Rumania in 1974 Ferenc Vizi started the piano at the age of nine with András Körtési in his native town of Reghin Gérard Frémy a member of the jury of the George Enesco competition in which Ferenc Vizi won a special prize encouraged him to come and study with him at the Paris Conservatoire which he was able to do in 1992 thanks to a French government grant and the Yvonne Lefébure Foundation and where he also studied with Cyril Huvé In 1998 after graduating with a unanimous first prize at the Conservatoire he entered the postgraduate performers course there with Jacques Rouvier and from 2000 to 2002 went on to study with Françoise Thinat at the Paris Ecole Normale Ferenc Vizi has carried off a number of prestigious international prizes the Saratov competition in Russia the Hamamatsu competition in Japan the Arthur Rubinstein competition in Tel Aviv and the Munich ARD competition thanks to which he was invited to perform in South America Japan and several European countries and to record Bartók s 2nd piano concerto with the Bayerischen Rundfunk directed by Peter Rundel for the Munich radio He has since performed as a recital soloist and with orchestras principally in Europe As a chamber musician Ferenc Vizi has also performed with Henri Demarquette Raphaël Perraud Jean Marc Phillips Varjabedian Alexis Cardenas Benoît Fromanger and Richard Galliano In 2014 he joined the Brancusi Trio with the violinist Arthur Soulès Aguilar and the cellist Laura Buruiana Juventus Lauréat in 1995 Ferenc Vizi is regularly invited to the Théâtre de la Ville in Paris He has also performed at Radio France in Paris at the Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux Festival de l Epau Piano à Riom Piano à Auxerre aux Serres d Auteuil Piano Passion in St Etienne at the Musée d Orsay and the Opéra comique in Paris the Chopin Festival in Nohant the Folle Journée in Nantes the Roque d Anthéron International Piano Festival Piano s festival Lille Festival d Eté de Toulouse and numerous theatres throughout France In August 2011 he made a highly successful appearance at the Festival de La Chaise Dieu where he performed Liszt s Totentanz with the Orchestre National d Île de France directed by Yoel Levi In November 2012 Ferenc Vizi performed both Tchaikovsky s 1st piano concerto and Grieg s piano concerto with the Târgu Mures Philharmonic Orchestra from his native Romania
